Coach/Athlete Instructions: (Please read carefully and share with your athletes)
Coaches Check-in: Coaches check-in will befrom 4-5:30pmin the Kay Fredericks Room, third floor of the Klas Center. You will be asked for your payment at this time ($20/athlete in individual events or $20/relay with a max of $120/per team per gender). Checks can be made out to 'Hamline Track and Field'.
At check in, you will receive the following: Meet Program with heat sheets/time schedule Receipt 1 shirt ticket per participating athlete in Friday's competition 1 athlete pass per participating athlete (athletes must have this to re-enter the track)
Coaches Hospitality Room: Food and beverage will be provided to COACHES ONLY in the Kay Fredericks Room of the Klas Center (overlooking the track). Please instruct your athletes at that this is for coaches only.
Meet Schedule: The meet WILL run on time. This includes field events.
Heat Sheets: Updated heat sheets are posted outside on the west wall of Klas Stadium.
Athlete Check-in: Athletes should check in with clerk 10 minutes prior to the event at the starting area.
Hip Numbers: Hip numbers can be picked up at the HU logo in the center of the field for all races that do not end in lanes (800, 1600, 3200, 4x400, 4x800, etc.). Only the last runner in a relay will need a hip number.
Instructions for FRIDAY Field Events: All athletes in the jumps and throws will receive 6 attempts on Friday. Athletes will jump/throw in order and will have 1-minute to make their attempt. Athletes may not jump or throw out of order. The event will not be stopped to wait for an athlete competing in another event. If they are not present, they will scratch that attempt and a foul will be marked.
Implement Weigh In: Implements will be weighed in on the east side of Klas Stadium under the bleachers. Implement weigh-in will occur from 4:00-4:45pm for the 5:30 field events and from 6:00-6:30pm for the 7:00 field events.
Starting Heights: Below are the 2011 starting heights: Girls High Jump - 4’10” (2” increments until 5’4” then 1” increment) Girls Pole Vault - 9’0” (6” increments until 10’6” then 3” increment) Boys High Jump - 5’10” (2” increments until 6’4” then 1” increment) Boys Pole Vault - 12’6” (6” increments until 14’0” then 3” increment)
Shirt Pick-up: Athletes competing in Friday's competition should bring their ticket to the shirt tables in Walker Fieldhouse (across Taylor Street) and pick up their shirts as soon as possible on Friday.
Warm-up: Athletes will be allowed to warm-up on the infield (hurdles will be available). No coaches allowed in the infield.
Team Camps: No team camps in the infield. Camps should be in the bleachers or outside the track.
Winning Athletes/Relay Teams: At the conclusion of each event, the winner will be taken to the finish line area to do a 100m jog down the home-stretch and be announced as the winner of that event. He/she/relay team will be given a t-shirt to throw into the stands at that time. Encourage your athletes to have fun with this!!!
Spikes: ¼” pyramid spikes only – no pins!
Jewelry: Please inform your athletes that the track and field jewelry rule will be enforced at the meet. Jewelry shall not be worn, except for religious or medical medals.
Parking: Parking is limited on Hamline’s campus. Parking is allowed after 3 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends in campus lots, however, plan on finding street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Buses will not be allowed to park on campus, they must drop off and go.
Spectator Admission: Adults and students $5 per day. Children Under 10 years are free.
Directions: Hamline University’s Klas Track & Field is located 1 mile north of I-94 on the corner of Snelling Ave. and Taylor Ave (just south of the Minnesota State Fair grounds).
Results: Will be available online at www.hamlinetrack.com following the meet.
